Lance Stroll pulled off what could only be called a miracle at the 2023 Bahrain GP. Before the F1 season even started, the Canadian driver had an unfortunate bike accident. This left him with broken wrists and a broken toe just before pre-season testing was going to take place. Doctors had stated that Stroll will be able to get back into the car and drive directly at the Saudi Arabian GP. However, that was not the case.

With the help of his medical team, Lance Stroll went on an extensive recovery program pushing to target his return at the season opening Bahrain GP. Meanwhile, Felipe Drugovich took his place in the car for pre-season testing. After extensive training, Lance was finally declared medically fit to race in Bahrain. He further went on to surprise everyone in the race where he finished P6 while still having problems with his hands.

While it was a tremendous effort by the Canadian racing driver, his teammate Fernando Alonso added to the celebrations with a podium finish. All in all, it was a good day for the team but the focus has shifted to the Saudi Arabian GP. The team will be keen to replicate the performances from 2 weekends ago at the Jeddah Corniche street circuit. Lance Stroll has gone on to give his preview for the race weekend.

Lance Stroll wants to get a better understanding of the Aston Martin

In a statement by Aston Martin, here is what Lance Stroll had to say. “I was really pleased with our performance in Bahrain, so we need to do our best to bring that positive momentum into the second race of the year in Saudi Arabia. As always, the first few races of the season are about learning the intricacies of the new car. Jeddah Corniche Circuit is an incredibly fast track, and the fastest street circuit on the calendar, so it is great fun to drive but also a real challenge,” he stated.

“The circuit in Jeddah is completely different to that in Bahrain, so it offers us an invaluable opportunity to collect more data and deepen our understanding of the AMR23. “We have seen Safety Cars on both occasions that we have raced in Saudi Arabia, so we need to ensure we are ready to capitalise on any opportunities that come our way,” he concluded.

After his troubles before the start of the season, Lance Stroll will have made a full recovery on his injuries before Friday practice starts. With Max Verstappen and Red Bull leading both the championships, Aston Martin is right there in second place in the constructors. With that being said, the team will be working on making sure that they hold this position with Ferrari and Mercedes right on their tails.
