Rally scheduled for 22-year-old shot & killed by Boise Police Officer
BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — A rally is scheduled for 22-year-old Payton Wasson of Nampa, who was shot and killed by Boise Police on June 24. The event will take place on Friday at 6 p.m. at Boise City Hall.
The rally has gained public attention, with people sharing these posters across social media platforms.
Wasson was shot after fleeing from a traffic stop on foot. Police say Wasson ran after they approached a suspicious vehicle near 5th and Main St. around 2 a.m. on Saturday.
According to police, three suspects were in the vehicle, 2 of which were detained by police, when Wasson ran carrying a firearm.
Wasson ignored commands to stop. Officers fired, hitting Wasson in the head.
He was transported to the hospital, but life-saving measures were ultimately unsuccessful, and he succumbed to his injuries around 1 p.m. on Sunday, June 25.
