Sally Field is an American actress. She has since ventured into directing. She first gained recognition in the ’60s, playing the title role in the sitcom Gidget. During the ’70s, she also had starring performances on the shows The Flying Nun and The Girl with Something Extra. She was then acclaimed for her work on the miniseries Sybil, which won her a Primetime Emmy. Also during the ’70s, she gained fame for her roles in the films Stay Hungry, Smokey and the Bandit, Heroes, The End, and Hooper. She then received her first Academy Award for her performance in the film Norma Rae. She also won the Academy for her work in the 1984 film Places in the Heart. In the 90s, she starred in Mrs. Doubtfire and Forrest Gump. From 2006-2011, she starred as Nora Walker on the ABC drama series Brothers & Sisters.
